This is a kaiju lovers delight and I wouldn't at all be surprised that this inspired the creation of the Great Gonzo of the Muppet Show! The movies is actually pretty well written and was going along pretty well....UNTIL they showed the bird fully and then you find that you have breathing problem as your laughing so hard until the credits run! Really does belong in anyone's collection. Gummybear
Beautiful thick black line work. It is smooth and crisp. Color is pretty great. Gives that water color like appeal. The detail on the wings and bird is great to the film monster. (My favorite when I was a kid..........long before the Angry Video Game Nerd made it popular. I think the only thing that hurts this is the text and the flatness of the blue. Text always kills an illustration to me. And to pretty much every college professor in art that I ever had that scolded me whenever I did the same thing. And you got such a rich variety of colors in everything, but left the background to be kinda flat. Sticks out a bit. Other than that, these are just minor things. It is still a solid concept and execution of the entire piece. You really did do a great job.
Thanks for the well thought out comment. This was one of those pieces that I started out working very meticulously on, but rushed once the deadline drew near. I also made some really bad decisions near the end, like the flat background and the inclusion of text. Originally I had coloured the background traditionally to match the bird and buildings, but for some reason I switched it to this. Looking back, I have no idea why I did that. I guess it was just the stress clouding my judgement. Now I can think of so many ways I could have made this picture work better. XD
